Using our first-of-its-kind (FOAK) Carbon Capture and Storage Solution (CCS), Cocoon Carbon (UK SME) proposes a novel, sustainable supplementary cementitious material (SCM). Our innovative and cost-effective CCS technology, upcycles slags from secondary steel production, i.e., Electric Arc Furnaces (EAFs).

We propose a 12-month programme where Cocoon Carbon (UK SME) will increase SCM production from grams to 300 kilograms across three melt batches utilising Material Processing Institute's (MPI) EAF, while maintaining cementitious properties and commercial viability.

We will partner with Amcrete UK Ltd for independent performance testing of the SCM against relevant British and international standards in real-world conditions. This piece of work will generate a critical data package and reports that will secure market confidence and support accreditation post-project. Testing will focus on meeting ASTM (C1157 and/or C595) and BSI standards (BSI Flex-350).

Throughout the project we will have continuous end user engagement through a panel consisting of representatives from Tarmac, Sigma Roc and Holcim. Additionally, we will provide samples from our work in order to demonstrate the material's durability and strength within concrete products produced by end-users.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
