Photos, videos, illustrations, animations; many different types. Posted on websites, on social media, featured in adverts on train station platforms and in magazines. All for commercial purposes, to promote businesses and to sell products and services. When an organisation, business or individual publishes an image or video for commercial use they must ensure that they have the correct consents, permissions and image rights in place. Not everybody does, and not everybody does it all of the time. The imageRelease project will develop a secure web application with accompanying mobile app to make the process of securing releases and rights easier, and to ensure that more businesses protect themselves from reputational or financial risk.The solution we will develop will simplify the process for creating, storing, managing and sharing model, property and artwork releases. In addition it will provide a workflow allowing businesses to request the rights to use content across a number of different applications. All done with a swipe on a phone or the click of a mouse.
