The company is developing the ground-breaking Lifelight artificial intelligence solution that contactlessly measures vital signs using the camera in standard smart devices(smartphone, tablet, laptop). All that is required is the user's face stay in the line-of-sight of the camera for 60secs so subtle changes in facial colour that occur with every heartbeat, and which contain information about the underlying respiratory and cardiovascular systems, can be detected via remote photoplethysmography(rPPG).

Xim's vision is to transform every smart device into a health monitoring platform for people of all ages. Indeed, the horizontal utility of vital signs monitoring means there are many use cases.

This project is borne out of repeated clinical demand for Lifelight to be used as a contactless method for frequently/continuously monitoring the most vulnerable people: neonatal babies. However, xim's existing Lifelight solution is only developed and regulated for use on adults. A brand new solution called Lifelight Baby is required.

In developing Lifelight, we have generated a unique algorithm-training database from 11,500 patients, including ~800 children. We are currently using these paediatric data to develop Lifelight Junior for children(1-18 years old) and, through extrapolation, this is giving us insights on how, with the help of a brand new algorithm-training dataset collected from infants, the Lifelight algorithms could adapt further for Lifelight Baby.

This project progresses Lifelight Baby from TRL3(proof-of-concept) to TRL5(prototype) by:

* Reviewing the latest academic research to identify best anatomical regions of interest for rPPG in neonates and increase Lifelight resilience for neonatal-specific external factors (neonate motion, NICU and inter-hospital transfer lighting, etc).
* Training Lifelight Baby machine learning algorithms to measure PR, RR, BP and SpO2 and detect fever in young infants using longitudinal data collected in a 12-month VISION-Baby clinical study on 80 neonates at Barts Health NHS Trust(from NICU to discharge).
* Developing new algorithms for calculation of neonatal NEWS score.
* Assessing usability/acceptability of Lifelight Baby among clinicians and families.
* Co-designing the app with families.
* Health economics assessment.
* Building partnerships e.g.Bliss charity.

Lifelight featured as the lead story on BBC News South in October 2023\. It was awarded &amp;quot;Health Tech Company of the year&amp;quot; in the 2023 South Coast Tech Awards, received a MedTech Innovation Briefing from NICE in 2021, appointed a &amp;quot;Global DigitalHealth 100&amp;quot; company by mHealth journal, and was featured in Wessex AHSN's 2020 &amp;amp; 2021 Annual Review.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
