Such as system would take its power from the airflow in the duct itself, removing the need for any wires or batteries. This simple system allows smoke detectors to be quickly and efficiently retrofitted into building with the minimum of disruption, with consequent significant cost savings. Such a system need not be confined to smoke detection, and with other suitable sensors, many building related parameters can be sensed and reported via low power radio networks, such as humidity, temperature and airflow.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
