However, this growth has introduced severe cybersecurity risks, as many IoT-devices lack robust-security-features. Weak configurations, outdated software, and poor authentication mechanisms leave these devices vulnerable to cyberattacks. The global economy is projected to suffer $10.5 trillion in cybercrime damages by 2025, with consumer-IoT-devices accounting for 60% of attack targets.

Recognizing these risks, the UK government introduced regulations such as the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022 and the Code of Practice for Consumer IoT Security 2018, mandating better security practices like banning default passwords and enforcing vulnerability disclosure policies. However, a large number of IoT-devices remain non-compliant, and security-breaches persist due to human error, estimated at 88% (Stanford research).

**SPITE (An Innovative Cybersecurity Solution)**

To address this challenge, SPITE (Secure Protection for IoT and Trusted Edges) introduces an AI-powered, smart edge security device designed to autonomously register, monitor, and protect IoT-devices within homes and businesses. Unlike traditional security tools that focus on network-wide defenses, SPITE secures IoT-devices individually, preventing zero-day attacks and device-takeovers.

SPITE operates on a Single-Board Computer (SBC) with Hardware Root of Trust (HRoT), ensuring secure authentication and anomaly detection without requiring cloud-based processing. This plug-and-play solution requires minimal technical expertise and uses AI-driven behavioral analysis to detect suspicious activity in real time. Unlike cloud-based security platforms that rely on periodic updates, SPITE provides immediate mitigation, blocking unauthorized traffic before a breach occurs. Additionally, SPITE can detect anomalous IoT-communication-patterns, helping prevent large-scale botnet attacks like Mirai and Mozi.

**Why is SPITE Different?**

Traditional security solutions, such as firewalls and Intrusion-Detection-Systems (IDS), rely on predefined attack signatures, making them ineffective against new and evolving threats. SPITE eliminates this limitation by using self-learning AI-models that continuously evolve, ensuring protection against novel attack methods. Additionally, SPITE is fully GDPR-compliant, as all security analytics are processed locally, preventing sensitive user-data from being exposed to third-parties.

SPITE's real-time threat detection and automated mitigation provide a cost-effective, scalable, and proactive security solution for IoT environments. By combining edge computing, AI-powered anomaly detection, and HRoT-backed authentication, SPITE offers a transformative approach to IoT-security, ensuring continuous, device-specific protection without reliance on cloud services or complex-configurations. This ensures reliability even in environments with limited-connectivity, making it ideal for both consumers and SMEs.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
