The experimental fibre developed at a UK University uses a natural substance which gives (i) better moisture handling capability, (ii) a more effective antimicrobial action, and (iii) expected improved clinical outcomes including wound healing and reduced scar formation. The process can be easily adopted by existing woundcare fibre manufacturers. Overall production and patient treatment costs are expected to be reduced or at least contained. This project will seek to evaluate commercial potential by confirming academic results, improving the process, and conducting formal test and evaluation by independent test organizations and potential future partners. Xiros aims to use the data obtained to recruit a woundcare OEM partner for the next stage of development.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
