They are the major reason why older people are not able to shop independently and the cause of their exclusion and indignity.

This project investigates how the capabilities of older people interact with systems and services in environments such as supermarket buildings. Understanding these interactions is key to healthy ageing. Dignity and inclusion are particularly important in helping older people remain active, productive, independent and socially connected and they narrow the gap between the experiences of the richest and the poorest.

This project will assess how the capabilities of older people interact with a real-world supermarket and use data output from the framework to develop and test the solution. There are currently no solutions for loss of these capabilities and it is hoped the projects output will help develop new products and services that enable older people become independent supermarket shoppers in an inclusive and dignified way.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
