Stunning is commonly used to render the animal unconscious prior to exsanguination. However, these methods have high capital and running costs and/or significant welfare issues. This project will build a RF induction heating prototype to examine the feasibility of using RF induction heating techniques as a stunning and/or dispatching method for poultry. Prior work suggests that this may be possible, and now we want to build a RF induction heating commercial prototype unit, install it at a licenced premises, and undertake initial proof-of-concept tests with live birds.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
