It does this in two key ways:

* By providing them with rapid access to this information and resources in a form that can be easily passed on to patients.
* By helping a doctor develop their consultation skills, enabling them to better relate to patients, building trust between them and enabling them to conduction consultations more effectively. Patients are therefore more likely to engage with the self-care messages and comply with them.

We aim to help trainee GPs access useful self-care resources, and share them with patients. These information and guidance notes are displayed to trainees with every consultation. We only want to show relevant information so the application tailors the information shown to be specific to the patient's health problem. To further help the trainee to communicate effectively with patients we provide an analysis of when the doctor and patient are each speaking, to help the doctor understand their patterns of communication and thereby improve them.

Such support helps tackle the GP shortfall by better preparing trainees for their exams, with the resulting workforce upskilled in helping patients better care for themselves.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
