We are focused on creating multi-sensory products designed to offer relief for people living with anxiety, agitation and stress. We combine the touch of sensory textiles, the sound of calming noises, the movement of gentle breathing for an immersive and gently relaxing effect. Our stress-relieving products are based on many years of research with university partners dedicated to exploring the value of multi-sensory experiences to reduce anxiety. Many children (and adults) are re-assured by a treasured soft toy. Based on this research, our mission is to design and make adult appropriate products to quality British standards for a similar comforting effect. We are innovators - leading the future in sensory and therapeutic interaction design to support the growing numbers of people living with anxiety. We use creative technologies and human interaction design to create beautifully intuitive sensory products. To achieve this multi-sensory experience, we use a mix of established and new intelligent textiles, haptics and creative technologies. Human interaction design and software create the intuitive interactions. We currently have two prototypes in development with co-design groups and university partners. There is excitement about this project! We have received enthusiastic responses from all stakeholders, our co-design groups, therapists, and carers from discussions and trials into the value of hugging our Calming Cushions. There is a clear need for engaging, reliable and portable easy to use therapeutic products that gently entertain, comfort and support positive mood change. This will help both care providers to provide quality care more effectively and their clients to turn anxious making challenges into less stressful calming moments. This award represents a game-changing moment and has the potential to turn many years of research into a collection of useful therapeutic products to help people manage their anxiety. The tailored business support and expertise offered by this award will unlock this significant potential and the living allowance will provide time for me to fully develop the business. My ambition is to put everything in place ready for investors, growth and the launch of our first therapeutic Calming Cushion. Wider impacts to society include providing a product that offers an alternative to medical intervention to support people to manage their anxiety levels. We are creating a product that can improve quality of life, support positive mindset, provide distraction from worries, facilitate connecting with others and help overstretched care providers.
