Physicians in 350 hospitals across 25 countries use our anatomical models for pre-operative planning, briefing surgical teams, and for patient consent.

Our 3D models dramatically improve patient care. Without these, surgeons rely on 2D images (MRI,CT scans, X-rays) to aid pre-operative planning. 2D images make conceptualising complex 3D anatomical structures (with each patient being different) a difficult task for even the most experienced surgeon. They can lead to complex surgeries being misdiagnosed or mis-planned, with millions of unnecessary and risky hours spent in surgery.

2D images can be hard for patients to decipher too, with surgeons resorting to drawings to help patients understand their diagnosis and gain consent to proceed with surgeries.

The outcomes of Axial3D-Insight are significant: 53% of physicians change surgery plans when using our models, surgery time is reduced by 62 minutes on average, recovery times reduce by 16%, with 98% patients feeling better consented, £3.72k savings/case and 92.5% of physicians reporting use of Axial3D-Insight resulted in better planning.

Working with physicians globally, we have identified an unmet need to enable remote and asynchronous collaboration for surgical planning using our 3D models. Physicians typically want to consult with experts around the world to plan complex surgeries; and plan all surgeries with members of large multidisciplinary teams who are often not all in the same place at the same time.

This project will develop Axial3D-Collaborate to meet these needs: providing a cloud-based collaborative platform to enable 3D anatomical models to be shared -- with team members, wherever they are, enabling them to interact with the same 3D model and mark-it-up with insights/annotations. Axial3D-Collaborate is the final link in transforming surgical planning.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
