Unlike conventional living walls that simply look attractive, our innovation actively draws polluted air through plant root systems and projects cleaned air across indoor spaces like offices, waiting rooms &amp;amp; school classrooms.

**How Active Airflow Works**

The system uses a rear plenum chamber to create controlled airflow, drawing ambient air through strategically positioned holes in PlantBox(tm) living wall modules. As air passes through the plant root zone, multiple biological processes remove harmful pollutants including nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds. Clean air is then distributed across the room through an integrated head unit.

This addresses a critical health challenge: indoor air can be 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air, contributing to the &amp;pound;20 billion annual cost of air pollution to UK health services and business. Traditional mechanical air purifiers require regular filter changes, consume significant energy, and provide no aesthetic or wellbeing benefits.

**The Field Trial Study**

Our 10-month field trial with property management company Shaftesbury Capital will take place in a real occupied office environment in central London. Using university-grade monitoring equipment, we will systematically compare air quality during active airflow operation versus passive living wall mode, measuring multiple pollutants continuously.

The study will document pollutant reduction effectiveness, energy consumption, maintenance requirements, and operational costs. Monthly stakeholder sessions will gather occupant feedback on air quality perception, productivity impacts, and overall satisfaction. We will also host demonstration visits for other potential customers.

**Expected Outcomes and Impact**

Laboratory testing by UCL already demonstrated 62% nitrogen dioxide removal efficiency. The field trial will validate these results in real-world conditions whilst proving commercial viability for building operators seeking sustainable air quality solutions.

Success will establish a new category of bio-filtration technology combining measurable air quality improvement with biophilic design benefits. We already have confirmed customer interest plus expressions of procurement intent from major public sector organisations.

The technology represents British innovation in environmental health solutions with significant export potential. Growing Revolution's established manufacturing capabilities through our PlantBox(tm) platform (300,000+ units installed) enable rapid commercial deployment following successful validation.

This project will demonstrate that innovative bio-filtration can deliver commercially viable air quality solutions whilst supporting sustainable building practices and directly improving occupant health and productivity in commercial buildings nationwide.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
