Flock is also the _only participatory sound system in the world_, and it heralds a new era of inclusivity in public events.

The speakers are 3D printed with recycled PLA plastic, they are rechargeable and wireless, and they are moulded to fit the human form so that they can be worn comfortably as backpacks. This revolutionary approach reduces noise pollution and fossil fuel consumption, heralding a greener future for the arts. It also represents a democratisation of the sound system by distributing the speakers amongst the audience, and offering volume control for each unit.

Over four years of research and continual development, Flock speakers are gaining in popularity and have attracted interest from organisations in the UK and Europe. This crucial stage of development will remove critical instabilities by removing Ableton link from the system and replacing Wifi with RF synchronisation, implement improvements to the acoustic performance of the system, and include research into the broadcast of live sound. This research will inform future development, presenting a revolutionary approach to participation and inclusivity at public events by creating a product which is tailored for outdoor arts, and is international in its reach.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
