I am a trained sustainable textile designer and 2022 Innovate UK Young Innovator award winner. Coming from a single parent household, I am an independent young woman with a track record of creating game-changing impact. I began my journey as a thought leader when I turned vegetarian age 12 in a family of meat eaters. Age 20, whilst studying at University, I campaigned for Loughborough University to divest £132k from fossil fuel investments.

During my time on the Young Innovators Award, I piloted a low tech supply chain transparency report. I successfully launched my accessories brand, Ovrbloom, that is 'radically transparent' in a world where greenwashing is rife. We must reduce the rate of global warming to below 1.5C - as required by the Paris Agreement and ensure that the 74 million garment workers worldwide are paid a living wage. As the sixth most polluting industry, the fashion industry must begin to quantify, track and publicly report social & environmental impact. I have experienced greenwashing first hand as both a business owner and a consumer. The CMF Fossil Fashion report found that 60% of eco claims from high street giants are unsubstantiated and misleading.

Customers will learn how ethical their purchases really are. With this award I will pilot my software, which will prove garment provenance, communicate social and environmental impact to the customer. All data linked to garment via product passport. This will support customers to make environmentally and socially positive purchasing decisions.

The award will provide me with the necessary tools to accelerate radical transparency within the fashion industry and begin to eliminate exploitation from the global supply chain and the earth's natural resources.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
