133548Compton Scatter Imaging for NDTClosedFeasibility StudiesInnovate UKThis project will develop a prototype instrument based on a novel approach to x-ray backscatter imaging to defect defects within thick sectioned carbon composites such as those used in the aerospace industry. The instrument will be able to identify and classify defects such as delamination, porosity, cracks and resin rich/poor regions. The prototype instrument will initially focus on an in-line inspection capability, but longer term objectives will be to extend this instrument to operate as a portable non-destructive evaluation instrument for in-field inspection of service aircraft.
