I created Pre-cleared Limited T/A "ClicknClear", a music rights tech and licensing company, in response to a music copyright infringement lawsuit by Sony Music against cheerleading. ClicknClear makes it easy for "performance sports" (dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, etc. where music is intrinsic to the routine) and fitness to get the unique bundle of specialist adaptation, choreography, and sync rights they need to put their '8 count' routines to music - a large untapped new worldwide revenue opportunity for music. Customers are protected against copyright infringement lawsuits, and empowered to use their routines online with music to increase engagement and participation in their sports. Our platform currently comprises three vertically integrated, bespoke technologies; * Music rights management, matching fragmented music rights ownership into 100% cleared tracks, * Music discovery and licensing, allowing searching of, and payment for, track licenses, and * License verification (funded by Innovate UK), enabling sports and fitness organisations to manage music licenses, enforce the use of licensed music at their events, and obtain any additional online rights they need. Users say that creating a mix from downloaded music is expensive and time-consuming, because they must either hire a third-party music producer to create their mix, or do it themselves using suboptimal, general purpose third-party software. I will use the award to create a unique web-based audio mixing tool for '8 count' format routines ("MixM8") securely integrated with the existing ClicknClear licensing and verification platform, enabling performance sports athletes / teams and fitness instructors to make their own music mix for their routines easily, affordably, and to a high quality, thereby; * Minimising cost and time to make a mix via sport-tailored and intuitive audio editing functionality. * Offering high value-add options such as suggesting alternative tracks, or following a predetermined intensity profile, leveraging ClicknClear's rich music metadata. * Allowing collaborative working by multiple stakeholders. * Improving ClicknClear's verification system accuracy. * Increasing security for ClicknClear music rightholders' content by keeping files on-platform. This project will: * Explore existing technologies that can be used in this new market. * Build new innovative technology and integrate with existing technologies, including the ClicknClear's platform. * Deliver an MVP for commercial release.
