(COD) system that remotely monitors the CO levels and other parameters in flues of domestic
boilers as an indicator of boiler efficiency. The device empowers homeowners to cut
unnecessary service visits, recognise costly inefficiencies, reduce their carbon footprint,
practice healthier boiler maintenance and improve home safety.
The system uses energy harvesting technology to self-power itself using temperature
differences in the flue via the simple, robust, wireless autonomous sensor platform (WASP)
system that makes continuous, real time boiler efficiency monitoring and profiling possible.
The developed WASP system will be able to accommodate other types of sensor units as well
creating new applications based on the sensor module.
Presently, no such integrated technology exists. Our Innovate UK SMART “Proof of Market”
study highlighted potential demand for a low cost device by the end users and domestic boiler
suppliers.
The experienced management and advisory team together with established contractors will
develop a "Beta" prototype, de-risk the business and deliver the Project objectives within the
£140,051 budget in 15 months.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
