710135Travel SafeClosedGRD Proof of ConceptInnovate UKMedical Prescription Services Ltd (MPS) will undertake a proof of concept project to develop a service which harnesses internet technology, our Expert System and the skill and knowledge of a medical professional to create innovative software as a service product offering open access to travellers requiring advice and medication before embarking upon overseas travel. MPS have developed a product which enables doctors to prescribe to large cohorts of patients, as the IT diagnostic tool has already performed the diagnosis on behalf of the doctor on line. Complex Expert Systems are required to analyse the variables and produce accurate consistent recommendations. We would like to build on our core technology, developed to respond to pandemics, to create a product for overseas travellers. Our product would enable an individual to access a web site for their destination-specific medication, which they would then be able to collect from a pharmacy the same day, or have delivered to their home the following day. This would address issues which currently prevent a high proportion of travellers from sourcing the appropriate medication/travel vaccinations, namely, inconvenience of taking time off work for and travelling to a GP appointment, taking the private prescription to a local pharmacy and, two of the most significant factors – difficulty in accessing clear and accurate travel health advice and a lack of understanding surrounding the risks inherent with their proposed travel plans.
