Perimeter and CCTV based security systems are typically complex to install, prone to false alarms and have blind spots. Alternatively man guarding is an expensive long term option. As a result this project will combine ultra-sensitive magnetic and seismic sensor technology into a single embedded system with on-board GPRS/3G data connectivity. By developing and combining the sensors into an intelligent system, we will be able to detect and report metal movement by evaluating sensor data and defining escalating alarm levels based on multiple user scenarios. These alarm levels may be customised by the user according to the locality and value of the secured site. The project will result in a fully functional prototype system, designed and tested in a single site location.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
