It presents risks of negative effects on both society and individual citizens. Recent debacles have showed this impact; for example, racial bias exhibited by AI applications.

There is a growing uneasiness around AI in the mind of the public, but we consider AI a global phenomenon that will transform our lives. Therefore, we want all the benefits of AI while limiting the risks associated with it --- especially the risks related to its blackbox nature. We need mechanisms to build public trust and confidence in autonomous decision-making processes.

We can achieve this by making AI transparent, explainable, auditable, and accountable. This will demystify AI applications and increase trust and confidence in AI for both the public and businesses. Seclea achieves this goal through its platform that provides necessary tools to ensure that an AI application is developed and maintained responsibly. During this project, Seclea Platform will be made available free of cost to data scientists, along with training sessions for data science and AI students at UK universities. This will ensure that data science students and data scientists in UK will have the skills and tools at their disposal to ensure the AI applications are ethically and socially responsible. Along with safeguarding their AI application(s) is fair and helps protect their investment in AI from any future regulatory changes.

This project is supporting the AI Grand Challenge identified in UK Industrial Strategy and National AI strategy. Both have the goal of making the UK the global leader in 'safe and ethical use of data and Artificial Intelligence giving confidence and clarity to citizens and businesses.'</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
