The spatial structure of bacterial biofilms

My project is looking at the spatial structure of bacterial biofilms, which are a type of bacterial communities that grow on surfaces.
Initially I am looking to characterise the roughness of the biofilm for a variety of growth rates and nutrient concentrations using individual-based modelling software iDynoMiCs and to compare the results to experiments and theory. Next, the plan is to determine how we expect this phase diagram to change when different antibiotics are added, since preliminary experiments show antibiotics significantly change the spatial structure of biofilms though this process is not well understood.
