Exploring the Reading Comprehension of Arabic-English Bilingual Children with DLD (Developmental Language Disorder)

Abstract

This project aims to examine the effect of bilingualism on children with DLD. More specifically, it will investigate the literacy, language and cognitive skills of bilingual children with DLD, variables that might play a role such as socioeconomic status and consider reading intervention programs on the reading skills of bilingual children with DLD. The study aims to address central questions in the field regarding benefits of bilingualism in DLD, specifically in relation to enhancement of reading skills. Outputs are expected to inform current theoretical and methodological controversies.
