Abstract
This project will bring to completion a 20-year programme of international, collaborative research into the economic and social changes which separate the Roman Empire from its early Byzantine successor on the lower Danube. It involves the preparation for publication of a three volume report on the large-scale excavation of a late Roman fortress (Dichin) and the application of a new approach to field survey in the hinterland of the Danubian frontier.
