Supporting technology developments for fully integrated logistics management portal
Lead Participant:
MICROLISE GROUP HOLDINGS LIMITED
Abstract
This project is concerned with the development of key technologies to enable Microlise to provide an holistic Distribution and Logistics system solution which covers own, third party and fourth party delivery options. The project objective is to develop a highly novel “dongle” device to interface with on-board vehicle information management systems (CanBus and OBDII etc) and link this, through Bluetooth, with a sophisticated Android Tablet hosted vehicle and delivery tracking platform (developed in this project) with onward communication to a comprehensive carrier portal (also to be developed) that interfaces with Microlise legacy systems and customer ERP systems.
This is highly innovative as it will provide a total fleet and distribution management system from vehicle dynamics and performance, point of delivery, driver debrief and performance reporting, routing and job tracking across multiple deliverers working for multiple distribution companies making multiple deliveries. It will deliver an innovative interface dongle to work across all vehicle types to deliver information, in realtime to a bespoke and comprehensive on vehicle android tablet at less than 25% of the costs typically associated with this level of functionality (£300 from £1200).
A market opportunity exists to fill this gap with a service capable of providing comprehensive ERP integration, Transport Management Systems and Carrier Portal for full delivery, routing, PoD, reporting and accounts reconciliation, fleet owners: driver metrics and performance, intelligent routing, vehicle performance and carbon savings, POD recording and fuel management. This is the system Microlise aspire to provide to the market. Compared to current market offerings, Microlise envisage ensuring a large drop in required CAPEX, and a move away from monthly vehicle charges.
