Department Name: Biology
Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.
| Description | The award was to further interactions between York and Basel and to develop cryoET expertise at York. Several projects have initiated from it. We have recently published work established during this collaboration (Nam et al. 2024 Cell). I have recently submitted a Faraday Discovery Fellowship application with Ben Engel as a core collaborator. We are continuing to collaborate on multiple projects that combine our team's expertise. |
| Exploitation Route | York used outputs from this award to successfully secure an energy filter to enable higher resolution cryo-EM/ET (grant number: BB/Z515668/1). Future publications are expected to initiate new projects in the field of pyrenoid cryoET. |
| Sectors | Education Environment |
| Description | Data from the award resulted in a successful BBSRC-ALERT grant that is enabling enhanced cryo-EM and cryo-ET at York. This is helping accelerate and expand structural biology work at York, establishing a broad expertise and external recognition. |
