Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description We developed a series of novel supermolecular compounds with significant bactericidal antimicrobial activity.
Exploitation Route Patent has been submitted and further funding is being sought to extend project.
Sectors Pharmaceuticals and Medical Biotechnology

Title "Antimicrobial compounds"
Description Development of a novel series of Naturally evolved bacterial strains have now been identified that are resistant to treatment with all known classes of antimicrobial agent currently marketed. In 2015 we discovered, developed and patented (18/07/2017) a novel class of Supramolecular Self-associating Antimicrobials (SSAs) which have the potential to initiate a step-change in antibiotic development.
