The political stakes of anthropo-technology: Sloterdijk and Stiegler

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Modern Languages and Cultures

Abstract

The goal of this enquiry is a critical analysis of the political stakes of Sloterdijk's and Stiegler's theories. The significance of this approach consists in trying to understand why Sloterdijk and Stiegler, although departing from similar anthropo-technology premises, achieve radically differing politcal conclusions. Proving the descent of this political divergence from subtle, although significant differences between their theoretical assumptions will involve directly questioning the political responsibility of philosophy, together with its relationship with current debates in evolutionary anthroplogy and political ecology.
