Information Visualisation for Children

Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS
Department Name: Computer Science

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate how young children (7-10 years of age) create visualizations. This investigation will focus on the attributes children most readily use to represent data, and whether knowledge of these attributes can aid in creating visualizations which are more easily interpreted. Data literacy will also be investigated, especially focusing on the understanding of traditional and modern visualizations of data within the targeted age bracket.
