Low-cost acoustic sensor to monitor, analyse and predict traffic and vehicular emissions with Spatiotemporal Context (Traffic Ear)
Lead Participant:
INNOVATION FACTORY LIMITED
Abstract
This is an industrial research project to look at the use of acoustic sensors for traf?c monitoring and estimating vehicular emissions with spatiotemporal context. We will carry out trials around the Sandwell area to validate our approach. With this project, we expect to be able to help local authorities to plan for the future and take alternative action to reduce the impact of vehicular emissions on air quality.
Innovation Factory will be collaborating on the project with University of Birmingham and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council who will be providing 10 sites for the trials.
This project also will allow us to understand the changing patterns in real-time. Exploring the use of alternative sensors that use acoustic AI to identify insights on how to estimate levels of traf?c movements, congestion and vehicular emission levels.
