Soft Computing Solution to Energy Conservation in Enterprise Servers
Lead Participant:
SOFTIRON LIMITED
Abstract
SoftIron is a British enterprise IT innovations company, whose core team have held senior positions in global enterprise IT product companies, and have exceptional credentials as innovators. The University of Portsmouth (UoP) is leader in the development of real-world Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems for commercial and industrial use. SoftIron is a global leader in the development, productisation and commercialisation of enterprise-class low energy high performance storage servers. These servers have world-beating performance and density whilst consuming significantly lower energy. They can significantly lower ICT electricity demand (PB/W) therefore CO2 emissions.
To sustain its global market lead and accelerate its innovation path, SoftIron has teamed up with the University of Portsmouth to produce an AI-based software agent that will work with the SoftIron low energy storage servers to further reduce the storage server energy requirements by dynamically controlling the power requirements of the server. Innovate UK funding enables SoftIron and UoP to accelerate the development of the AI-based software agent and take it to market quickly. This enables SoftIron to consolidate its global lead rather than fall behind; which would otherwise happen if Innovate UK funding were not available to undertake the project.
