ENPROT (ENvironmental PRoving Testing)

Lead Participant: ROLLS-ROYCE PLC

Abstract

Rolls-Royce Plc. will lead the ENPROT (ENvironmental PROving Testing) project which seeks to deliver a combination of advanced simulation activity to help understand robustness of the novel UltraFan engine architecture against operation in extreme environmental conditions. Simulation covers both aqueous and non-aqueous threats, correlating simulation data against physical data wherever possible. These simulations will inform critical product risk reduction, as well as providing data and methods to assist in engine design and product optimisation. The project will also deliver replacement hardware to the UltraFan® Demonstrator to support the engine development programme. Project cost is £9.1m over 69 months, completing January 2026.
