ZERO TRUST SECURITY

Abstract

This project proposes a "zero trust security" solution. This cybersecurity concept was introduced to the US government in 2013 by Forrester Research. The idea was to overcome the "M&M" weakness of cyber defence products where the outside of a system is a hard shell whilst the middle is soft, so that nobody using a computer network is trusted. Forrester Research did not provide any technical proposals on how to achieve such a solution.

Based on our extensive research and understanding of the practical implications of developing a zero trust product, we aim to develop a cross-layer model to make systems impossible to penetrate. Our model is based on practical solutions to achieve the full zero trust principles across all layers of computing, from the hardware up to the application layer. Such a solution is practical to critical applications such as critical national infrastructure.
