Novel Continuous Rotary Extrusion (CRE) Machine

Lead Participant: MELTECH CRE LIMITED

Abstract

Continuous Rotary Extrusion (CRE) machines are used to extrude high quality continuous
profiles in non-ferrous metals, predominantly copper, aluminium and their alloys. The
electrical industry is a major user of products made on CRE machines, e.g. busbar profiles,
electrical conductor for high voltage cables, lightning conductors, magnet wires, aluminiumclad
steel wires, motor and transformer components.
The current manufacturing technology is based on a machine that was developed in the
1970’s. The market has grown significantly since then but has seen very little innovation
since the introduction of this (initially) very innovative process. Meltech Continuous Rotary
Extrusion has identified a gap in the market for a novel CRE machine to compete in the global
marketplace. The machine will yield both operational and commercial benefits.
