Development of Prototype Content Protection System Comprising Device Identification and Quantum Key Distribution provides new paradigm in security

Lead Participant: SENTA TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED

Abstract

The security of information is recognised as one the key challenges associated with the opendigital age, which faces commerce, governments and citizens alike. It is estimated that every year in the UK cybercrime costs the economy more than £27bn, with UK business losing £21bn & affecting over 1.8million people. IP theft and espionage are by far the greatest threats at £9.2 billion and £7.5 billion respectively.
Mobile devices and apps have become critical to both personal and work life. In 2011, global mobile handset shipments reached 1.6 billion and tablet shipments reached 66.9 million (Strategy Analytics 2012). The sheer volume of mobile devices in use today has given rise to a staggering range of possibilities for users to interact with and manage their work and personal data while mobile. However, those same opportunities also open the door to hackers.
With a recognised failure in current security systems & with mobile malware reaching a new level of maturity, significant opportunity exists for new mobile security solutions.
Senta Technologies Ltd aim to develop a pre-production prototype of a next generation
security solutions called Guardian. The platform will focus around Senta’s two core tech
concepts of Evolving Digitial Signature which profiles a device by selecting random
characteristics to form an evolving device fingerprint and Senta Secure Data Services which employs polymorphic encryption techniques by randomly generating unique keys on both client and server and ciphers that change at random intervals. The aim of these two technologies is to inject unpredictability into the mechanics of device fingerprinting and endpoint encryption. This fully prevents hackers from device impersonation and man-in-themiddle attacks. Due to their significant vulnerability, initial focus will be within the Cloud Security and Android markets with a fully validated prototype ready for market launch within 6 months of project end.
