| Description | Over the course of the two-year programme, the International Quantum Tensor Network has generated substantial new engagement between researchers across academia and industry in the UK, the US and Europe around the use of Tensor Network techniques to programme future quantum computers, and to simulate quantum systems on classical computers. This has generated substantial international interest in follow-up programmes, and significant new ideas that we expect to lead to collaborative projects. We see directly the seeding of new research directions and collaborations, with research teams associated with the project starting to take these ideas forward by applying for new funding, or organising PhD studentship projects around exploring the new directions. |
| Exploitation Route | This could generate new techniques for academia and industry to use quantum computers, as well as improved algorithms for classical supercomputers. On the side of conventional computing alone, there are substantial opportunities to use these techniques to simulate classical fluid dynamics, or expand existing techniques in quantum chemistry. |
