Abstract

This award would enable the already close relationship that has been built up between the University and the UHL NHS Trust to be further cemented by its focus on working together by the exchange of staff. It will generate cutting edge interdisciplinary research activity within specified thematic areas for the mutual benefit of both organisations.

Technical Summary

This application will further build upon and enhance the existing relationships between Loughborough University and the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust. It will build a virtual faculty linking the scale and depth of the university culture of customer driven applied science, engineering and industrial partnership with the needs and research culture of the UHL NHS Trust, one of the largest outside London. It will create a lasting peer to peer basis for user driven interdisciplinary research between the two Institutions. The inititaive will deliver a step change in the understanding and experience of Loughborough University in the requirements of the clinical world, and an enhanced understanding by clinicians of the capabilities of current and emerging technologies.
