Discipline Hopping for Discovery Science

Lead Research Organisation: University of York
Department Name: Environment

Abstract

This funding will be used to fund a series of short projects that will explore exciting environmental science questions from a range of disciplinary perspectives across the life, physical, and social sciences, and the arts and humanities. By working with researchers from different disciplines, the teams will develop new understandings of their own fields, and develop new approaches to pressing questions in environmental science.

Title An ontology-type knowledge base representing domain expertise in nature-based solutions to climate change
Description This is an OWL ontology stored in Turtle format. It is an open linked data type database encoding key concepts and their relations was created to encode our environment expert's domain knowledge in order to assist and guide automated information extraction from NDC (spell in full?) documents. The resulting ontology has a 4-level deep hierarchy of concepts, contains 100+ concepts and 6 main relations between them; it can be easily incorporated in any information system using this type of representation.
