Abstract
Shifting construction off-site is growing in popularity around the world, and shows great potential in many regards. Off-site construction can reduce construction cost and time, improve quality as well as on-site safety, to name but a few. Techniques for achieving an efficient modularisation strategy are however limited and poorly studied. For the application of off-site modular construction techniques to large and complex projects such as Small Modular Reactors, it has been identified that further research is required into how to achieve successful modularisation. Parametric design techniques will be combined with optimisation techniques and investigated as a method to approach an answer.
