Free-flow, and Rapid, Standoff security-screening, for All Weapons (FORSAW)

Lead Participant: CAMBRIDGE SENSORIIS LTD

Abstract

Busy transport hubs, including railways stations, face the conflicting requirements to rapidly move high volumes of people through public areas and onto trains, whilst simultaneously ensuring that those intent on causing harm are quickly identified and intercepted -- ideally outside of the station.

Cambridge Sensoriis (cambsensoriis.com), the Lead Organisation, is a designer of sensing technologies and specialises in the manufacture of high frequency radar.

The FORSAW research project shall:

* Research use of Small Weight and Power sensor for passenger security screening amongst freely moving personnel.
* Develop a Concept of Operations for threat detection to fit with the way busy stations in India operate.
* Create a plan to take the sensor though to field deployment for concealed personnel-borne threat detection.

These activities shall lead to demonstrations, pilot projects, and then commercial deployments in a rapidly growing export market for passenger screening. The support from Innovate UK will facilitate this export opportunity for a growing UK technology company into a new market area.
