Reducing Electronics Footprint by Enabling Customer Choices - REFbyECC
Lead Participant:
ETHICRONICS LTD
Abstract
More than 75% of the electronics carbon footprint happens at manufacturing stage and yet there is no possibility for a customer to choose its electronics based on this additional data and thus impact on sales and create a virtuous for better manufacturing. Similarly, there are many electronic devices that stay unused in our shelves and recycling of them can be seen as non efficient at the time being.
This project aims to study and bring technical solutions design and pre-development to reduce the total footprint of electronics, by enabling better electronics manufacturing from a sustainable aspect, increase the amount of electronics devices to be recycled and enable better recycling. The project takes into consideration customers acceptation/interests and strong security/privacy requirements for technical solutions pre-development.
This project is lead by a team with unique expertise in the required area of electronics manufacturing, security and software engineering.
