Nanomaterials for Clean Fuels

Lead Participant: JOHNSON MATTHEY PLC

Abstract

project number; 100519
The project title; Nanomaterials for Clean Fuels
The project description;
The aim of the project is to design new energy efficient manufacturing routes to next generation Methanol Synthesis and Fischer-Tropsch (FT) catalytic materials to make clean fuels. Specific objectives will be synthesis of highly dispersed (and consequently highly active) nanocrystalline catalysts with high selectivity for syn gas conversion (derived from stranded natural gas) to methanol (also for dimethyl ether) and sulphur-free diesel. The project will cover high-throughput laboratory-based catalyst discovery and characterisation, next generation catalyst preparation, reactive studies as well as pilot-plant design for the successful catalyst synthesis process.
The project participants;
The University of Liverpool, The University of Cardiff, Johnson Matthey Ltd
