Abstract
This project will build, connect and test a proposed combination of components into a 5G private network workstation called ConneX. It will prove feasibility, highlight innovation and crystalise further investment to enable us to go to market, which has proven difficult to close without a demonstration unit.
5G private networks are a type of mobile network that are designed to be used exclusively by a single organization or enterprise. Unlike traditional mobile networks, which are owned and operated by telecommunications companies, 5G private networks are owned and operated by the enterprise that uses them.
The main advantage of a 5G private network is that it provides greater control, security, and reliability than a traditional network. Since the network is owned and operated by the enterprise, it can be customised to meet the specific needs of the organisation. This includes setting up dedicated network slices for different departments, implementing strict access controls to ensure only authorised devices can connect to the network, and implementing robust security measures to protect against cyber attacks.
5G private networks are expected to play an important role in the digital transformation of future telecoms, however the deployment of 5G private networks is still in the early stages with a number of technical challenges that need to be overcome before they can become widespread.
In this project, BBi will create thin client hardware with screen that integrates a 5G private network. The product will be called ConneX and it will connect a user directly to a datacentre hosted virtual workstation, via the private network, and will address key technical challenges.
