The Lived Experience Equity Framework: Retaining Diverse Teams with Lived Experience to Maintain Exceptional Organisational Culture

Abstract

Taye Training and Faye Fox -- The Lived Experience Equity Framework

Faye Fox, co-founder of Taye Training, has harnessed her 25+ years of professional expertise and personal lived experiences to create transformative training models for frontline workers in sectors like the NHS, social care, and criminal justice. Established in 2016, Taye Training has garnered national recognition, including the prestigious Princess Royal Training Awards.

Our groundbreaking project, the Lived Experience Equity Framework (LEEF), is designed to redefine inclusion models in the third and public sectors. I am crafting an EDI ecosystem that nurtures diverse, inclusive teams and cultivates high-performance cultures. This ecosystem equips organisations with holistic methodologies for recruitment, training, support, performance management, growth, and leadership, thereby enhancing staff retention and performance outcomes.

LEEF will offer a comprehensive framework for constructing resilient, diverse, and high-performing teams, elevating service delivery and alleviating the burden on public finances. LEEF is an all-encompassing solution consisting of an innovative, tailored intervention, using our in-house developed guidebook, materials and training.

Distinctive in its commitment to sustainable talent development, LEEF will capture our tried-and-true methods into a scalable solution for achieving authentic diversity and inclusion. Research substantiates that diverse and supported organisations yield superior outcomes, underscoring the urgency for our Lived Experience Equity Framework to ensure long-term sustainability, both in Taye, but also sharing this to the third/public sector, to build authentic inclusion and diversity.

Our Framework will guide the essential shifts in organisational culture, leadership, and HR frameworks, offering a pragmatic structure that demands no extra time or financial investment. The benefits are multifold: elevated diversity, inclusive cultures, and improved staff retention. For example, a mere 5% reduction in NHS staff attrition could alleviate the backlog without additional hiring, translating to savings of £9 billion, considering the 200,000+ active vacancies/average salary costs.

Our project aspires to establish the HR infrastructures and talent management systems essential for mitigating staff burnout and elevating service delivery in the public/third sectors. I plan to commercialise the Lived Experience Equity Framework to provide enduring support structures, organisational blueprints, and leadership paradigms. In executing this, I aim to fundamentally enhance the lives of millions, ensuring that the most vulnerable in society receive the support they critically need.
