A vision-based system for proactive management of safety on construction sites

EVERCAM UK LIMITED
Abstract
Evercam is a construction-oriented software company. With our disruptive technology, we focus on increasing construction productivity by improving project visibility and team communications. To do this, we build tools that capture the big picture and surface the relevant details encouraging data-driven decision-making and collaboration on sites.
Construction is widely recognised as an industry that is slow to embrace change. Although the development and widespread use of modern technologies have been growing, the construction sector still remains, among the least digitised industries globally. This lagging in the adoption of innovation draws consecutive challenges. The construction sector continues to record the highest number of accidents and workplace injuries generating additional costs and delays that derail this industry's growth.
The proposed project aims to address the underlying challenges of high mortality and poor productivity in the construction sector. Evercam intends to leverage its existing data, know-how in construction logistics, and reality-capture expertise and combine it with novel Computer Vision (CV) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology, developing a smart system for proactive H&S management on sites. The proposed innovation will disrupt the construction industry by improving transparency and control on site, empowering construction teams with timely and accurate information needed to react to hazards in real-time, reducing the likelihood of serious accidents and injuries. Site-specific digital records will help to effectively train site crew in real hazard scenarios, increasing awareness and promoting behavioural change.
Through this project, we will assess the feasibility, desirability & viability of the proposed solution in a feasibility study. Evercam's experienced team will be conducting research and experiments on-site and in the lab to arrive at the best product fit. Following the achievement of the objectives and a positive assessment we will embark on the next phase (beyond this project) where Evercam will deploy a large-scale pilot and continue the development of the envisioned product to its commercialisation.
Evercam is in a uniquely strong position to deliver this innovation. We own over 600 years of annotated construction data and have an established team with successful experience deploying the necessary hardware and AI solutions in the built sector. The next crucial step before taking this exciting innovation to market is to conduct the feasibility assessment proposed in this project.
