Regulators' Business Privacy Innovation Hub

Abstract

The aim of the Hub is to provide expert advice to businesses on privacy and data protection to help them build the confidence to innovate within regulatory parameters. To achieve cross-sectoral influence through a delivery model working in partnership with other RPF-funded and non-funded regulators.

The Hub will help businesses to utilise a data protection-by-design approach, which will in turn give them the confidence to create innovative products and services that are both compliant and effective. The Hub will reflect the ICO’s own enhanced focus on innovation and desire to support business, and will ultimately help us achieve our strategic goal to increase the public’s trust and confidence in how their personal data will be used.

Stated objectives –
• To promote good data protection practice within businesses who wish to innovate.
• To positively contribute to public trust and confidence regarding businesses’ handling of their personal data.
• To develop the ICO’s knowledge of the interplay between data protection and innovation, and feed into the ICO’s own Sandbox to support business innovation.
• To develop other regulators’ capacity to address data protection issues in their own sectors.
• To publish new advice and guidance for innovating businesses.
