Reconstructing consumer landscapes: Shopper reactions to the supermarket in early post-war England

The project has a range of publication goals. These include a major monograph on the development and impact of the supermarket in Britain. This will be published in the Ashgate series on the history of retailing and consumption. In addition the following high rated journals will be targeted for key publications; Environment and Planning A; Business History; Regional Studies; Journal of Historical Geography. Conference papers will be given at the following meetings; The Economic History Society, Business History conference and CHORD. Given the popular interest in this topic it is hoped that a small number of short papers can be offered to more popular history journals such as History Today.
