The Listening Lab: Behaviour Change Software
Lead Participant:
LOOPLABS
Abstract
Informatics-enabled behavioural change interventions are a potential solution to making cities more sustainable. With connected infrastructure it is possible to use data mapping and visualisation to understand citizen behaviours better than ever before. Context aware messaging can be delivered to people where, when and how it would have the biggest behavioral impact. The software development framework developed through this innovative feasibility study will be designed with urban anthropologists and behavioural psychologists to give it best chance of being effective. It will be designed through a co creation framework: not for citizens, but with citizens. Other sectors, such as advertising, marketing, product and interaction design aim to enable behavioural change as a core mission. Global leaders as diverse as Foursquare, Groupon and Nike have proved that the most powerful way to grow and engage a vibrant community is with game mechanics, and have demonstrated increased engagement, brand loyalty and built sustainable, viral communities. This knowledge is transferable.
