Office Furniture Circular Business Model
Lead Participant:
STEELCASE LIMITED
Abstract
In the UK a huge tonnage of commercial office furniture goes to landfill or recycling which has a significant re-use and remanufacture value. An opportunity exists to address this leakage through a collaborative, scalable re-use value network approach at profit. The feasibility study will assess the key value drivers, profit pools and pre-requisites for a value network leading to a business case for a preferred circular business model. Key issues to be addressed include the current misaligned incentives across the value chain, identifying revenue streams and profit pools to leverage collaboration, the feedstock management challenge (matching supply and demand for re-use), and the various capabilities and tools to deliver a client-focused re-use platform at scale.
