Fundamental Aspects of Astroparticle and Beyond-the-Standard-Model Physics

Lead Research Organisation: University of Oxford
Department Name: Oxford Physics

Abstract

This project falls within the areas of particle and astroparticle phyics, in particular Beyond the Standard Model physics. These disciplines expect to udnergo various changes in the near future. Despite the continuing outstanding success of the Standard Model, many serious unresolved problems exist - hierarchy and flavour problems, dark matter, and early universe physics to name a few. The coming years will see a shift in focus from collider physics ro the understanding and exploitation of new astrophyical tools like the measurement of gravitational waves. My project ains to inform and motivate current and upcoming experimental searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model. I will focus in particular on developing models and phenomenology of the early universe, with emphasis on predictions testable with upcoming ecperiments to illuminate the nature of solutions ot the aforementioned isses with the Standard Model.
