Abstract

Understanding electron-neutrino interactions is crucial to resolving the big questions in neutrino
physics, namely the existence of the sterile neutrino and observing CP-violation, as both of these mea-
surements require searching for electron-neutrinos.Yet, there are only a few measurements of the electron-
neutrino cross-section and, as of now, none on liquid argon. This project aims to ll that gap, by using
data collected from the MicroBooNE detector from the NuMI neutrino beamline. The proposed measure-
ment is challenging however, given the relatively small abundance of electron neutrinos in the Fermilab
neutrino beams, the still developing status of liquid argon reconstruction as well as several uncertainties
that have to be resolved before its completion.

Results and Impact Annual open house at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). Over 20,000 people attended in 2017, mostly from the surrounding region (Illinois, Wisconsin) and engaged with activities and tours displaying the work performed at Fermilab, including the experiment halls for famous high energy physics detectors such as D0, MINOS+, and MicroBooNE. 2017 saw record turn-out as Fermilab had turned 50 years old.
